Summary/Objective
To transport students to and from school and on activity trips in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions

- Responds to all internal and external customers, as it relates to the position, in a prompt, efficient, friendly and patient manner
- Obeys all traffic laws and enforces all bus regulations
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
- May administer emergency first-aid
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus
- Reports unruly students to proper authorities
- Keeps bus or other assigned vehicle clean
- Runs assigned schedule efficiently, varying only after consultation with Transportation Supervisor
- Checks bus prior to operation for mechanical and safety defects
- Notifies proper authority of mechanical and safety device failures
- Transports only authorized students and student supervisors
- Reports all accidents to proper authorities and completes required reports
- Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations, and rules
- Performs related duties as assigned in a safe and prudent manner.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
At-Will Notice of Employment does not provide a guarantee of a particular schedule of work or a minimum number of days or hours.
This is a 9-month, varied hour position. The employee will work Monday through Thursday and half days on Fridays. The employee must have the availability and ability to work flexible hours, including split shifts. Extended work hours may occasionally be required.
Required Education and Experience
None
Preferred Experience
School bus and/or commercial driving experience preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Certifications/Licenses
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License and state bus driver’s certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire
- Behind the Wheel classroom training is provided for Class B CDL, P & S endorsements
- CPR/First Aid – Training is provided
- Birth Certificate to obtain CDL driver’s license in Arizona
- Arizona Department of Transportation physical and federal drug and alcohol test
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
- Must be able to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Department of Motor Vehicle driving record for the previous 39 months
- Must be able to pass an Arizona Department of Transportation physical
- Must be able to pass a federal drug and alcohol test
- Must register with the FMCSA Drug Clearinghouse
